We had a lot of fun doing this interview and reminiscing about the time we made The Foreigner. Thank you again to our incredible team for pulling off this great film! If you haven’t seen the film yet, check it out this Wednesday at the Royal for the Women in Film & Television – Toronto (WIFT-T) showcase. Screening starts at 7pm.
We just returned from a great trip shooting preliminary footage for our next film in New Orleans. While visiting the city, we met some great people, including Mr. Leon Waters, a local activist who dedicates his time providing Hidden History Tours to tourists in order to shed light on local historical events that have been too easily forgotten.
New Orleans is still filled with monuments and plaques that celebrate white supremacy and honour the agents responsible for racial violence and segregation in Louisiana. Mr. Leon is involved in a movement to take down these symbols of oppression and replace them with markers that commemorate Black History. You can find out more about Mr. Leon and this movement here.
We are very touched to receive an honourable mention at this year’s Breakthroughs Film Festival. This festival had by far the strongest selection of short dramatic films. We can’t wait to attend the festival again next year!
Our short film THE FOREIGNER screens at the fourth edition of the Breakthroughs Film Festival in Toronto. Breakthroughs is the only festival of its kind in Canada dedicated to supporting short films by young female filmmakers.

Third Culture launched last month with a screening party for THE FOREIGNER in the Distillery District. Over 300 people were in attendance to watch the film and dance to the beautiful sounds of Forro Nite, Primitiva, DJ Firecracker and DJ Drumspeak. A big thank you to Cabinet Furniture, Big Village, vanGray, the bands and all the volunteers for making this party a huge success!

This week we had the pleasure to find out that Third Culture Media is among the few businesses to receive funding from the 2014 Michaëlle Jean Young Arts Entrepreneur Award. Thanks to the generous support of CIBC and BMO, the Michaëlle Jean foundation has awarded this funding to eight youth-led businesses across the country. More details to come this fall! Thank you to Michaëlle Jean and the foundation for their incredible support!

We just wrapped production on the set of Petra Glynt’s upcoming new music video “Sour Paradise.” Directed by Blake McFarlane, the video is filled with glitter-freak-punk mayhem, including fireworks, lazers and lots of smoke bombs! Keep an eye out for the video, which is set to drop later this fall. In the meantime, check out our photos from set.
After two full days and one long night of shooting, we finally wrapped on THE FOREIGNER. Below are some photos of the production courtesy of photographers Kevin Jones and Marvin Bedward.
